what is the brightwheel app?

The RISE Center uses the Brightwheel App to manage attendance, student check in and check out and for parent/teacher communication.  When your child begins at RISE you will be sent a text or email with a link to create your Brightwheel account.  Parents and anyone you have designated as an approved person to pick up your child from school should download the app and create their own account.  Parents will enjoy the access the app allows them to communicate easily with their child’s teacher and see pictures of their child’s daily activities at school on the app feed.

BRIGHTWHEEL BASICS
​Do I need to check my child in and out using the Brightwheel app every day?
Yes, use of the app allows a secure way to track that only the people you approve are picking your child up.  It also allows you to check the app and see if your babysitter picked your child up.  Brightwheel creates a digital record for RISE to rely on.  In addition, during COVID-19, the app requires you to answer health questions about your child in an efficient manner in order to keep all students safe.

Do family members and babysitters need the Brightwheel app? Yes, anyone who will be picking your child up or dropping them off at school will need the app to check your child in/out.  An invitation to join Brightwheel is sent to them by text.  Each person needs to create their own account.  Staff members can help them check in/out.

​Brightwheel is asking for my 4-digit code to check my child in/out.  Where can I find that? If you created an account, select the 3 horizontal lines in the upper left hand corner of the home page.  Click on your name.  This will take you to your profile.  Scroll until you find your Check-In Code.  You can also update information on this page and manage push notifications.
What should I do if I can’t log back in to my Brightwheel account? All usernames for accounts are either your mobile phone number or your email.  Select “Forgot Password” on the log in screen if you need to and it will prompt you to create a new password.

Someone is picking my child up that is not on the Pickup List.  What should I do?
Call the front office (205-348-7931) to make us aware that someone new is coming. Give us the name and driver’s license number of the new pickup.  A Consent for Child Pickup form will be completed.   When the pickup arrives, we will need to make a copy of their driver’s license.  The pickup will complete the Sign Out Sheet.  If this person will become a regular pickup, the parent must add them to their child’s list by calling the front office to have the Pickup List amended They will receive an invitation to Brightwheel and should create an account.

​My QR scan code doesn’t work.  What should I do? If your code isn’t working for check out or you need additional codes, please call the front office (205-348-7931).
